Question: Biopsychosocial Approach

Answer: -Disease attributed to an interaction of biological, psychological (mood, personality, behavior) and social factors (culture, family, SES)

Question: Macrosociological Approach

Answer: -Analysis of social systems and populations on a large scale => at the level of social structure (more abstract)

-Microsociological; focuses on individual

Question: Life course perspective

Answer: -Focus on life stages

-Examines how early events influence future decisions; sensitive periods

-Connection between individual life and SES

Question: Social Construction

Answer: -Human beings rationalize their experiences by creating models of the social world

-Something does not have any value unless people give value to it

-Macro level; how society defines objects, behavior

-Encompasses what everyone perceives as defined by society; ex. use of money

Question: Symbolic Interactionism

Answer: -How individuals perceive situations; micro level (not macro as in social construction)

-How interactions either with each other or within society as a whole influence norms and rituals

-Micro => Macro

-Examines small-scale interactions, focusing on how shared meaning is established within small groups
