Question: Barbarian Invasion

Answer: Germanic barbarians attacked many Roman territories. In A.D. 476 the Barbarians overthrew the last Roman emperor.

Question: Decline In Morals And Values

Answer: Many provinces in Rome enforced a curfew during evening hours. They did this because many crimes happened in Rome. The Romans passion for cruelty rose.

Question: Environmental And Public Health Problems

Answer: Many Rich Romans died of led from the led pipes they used for drinking water. The poor weren’t rich enough to buy led pipes so not a lot died from it. Romans also had led utensils which made the death rate rise dramastically.

Question: Excessive Military Spending To Defend The Empire

Answer: Maintaining an army to defend the Roman empire was very difficult. The Romans spent most profits to benefit the army which lead to the bad quality of houses, roads, and many poor people.

Answer: The Romans failed in many new machines. This caused their weapons and tools to be not as advanced as other places did. Many farming tools were really old and weren’t remodeled which affected their crop production.

Answer: The Roman economy suffered from inflation (an increase in prices) beginning after the reign of Marcus Aurelius. Gold used in coins decreased with made it less valuable. Eventually taxes, salaries were paid in food and clothing.

Answer: This was one of Rome’s most severe problems. The Roman’s made 37 different emperors which teared apart society as they fought over power. 25 out of the 30 emperors were assassinated by the office.

Question: Rise In Christianity

Answer: Christianity produced dramatic change in the empire. They argue that the Christianity made it’s followers into pacifists (those who oppose of war). Most money from the goverment was used for churches and monasteries.

Question: Unemployment

Answer: Thousands of men filled the cities of the Empire, where there were not enough jobs for everyone. One time the emperor was importing grain to feed more than 100,000 unemployed people in Rome alone! this was a big devastation for the empire

Question: Urban Decay

Answer: Most Romans were not rich and lived in small smelly rooms in apartment houses with six or more stories. Many buildings had shaky structures and broken windows. Lots of fires happened from the lack of good air conditions and the bad designing.
