A Good Paragraph Should

Question: In order of what makes a good paragraph:

Answer: 1. One main idea.

2. Topic sentence.

3. 5-7 sentences.

4. Closing sentence.

5. Indent, spelling and grammar.

Question: Topic sentence

Answer: The first sentence in a paragraph. Summarize the main idea of your paragraph. Indicate to the reader what your paragraph will be about.

Question: Supporting sentences

Answer: They come after the topic sentence, making up the body of a paragraph. You should give supporting facts, details and examples.

Question: Closing sentence

Answer: The last sentence in a paragraph. Restate the main idea of the paragraph using different words.

Question: Paragraph

Answer: A group of sentences which all talk about one topic or subject.

Question: Unity

Answer: If a paragraph contains sentences which all discuss one idea, it is said to process blank. It means that there is only one idea in the paragraph.

Question: Coherence

Answer: Sentences in the paragraph also have to be arranged that makes sense.
