Question: Interphase

Answer: stage 1 - growth phase, DNA synthesis/ replication, non - reproductive phase. can see nucleus but cannot see chromosomes

Question: prophase

Answer: stage 2 - chromosomes become visible, nuclear membrane disappears, centrioles move to the poles and spindle fibers begin to form

Question: metaphase

Answer: stage 3 - double stranded chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell

Question: anaphase

Answer: chromosome strands separate and move to opposite poles

Question: telophase & cytokinesis

Answer: two daughter cells are formed, each with a complete set of single stranded chromosomes identical to each other and to the parent cell. the centrioles and spindle fibers disappears
